The short version: this is a personal project built on public data, it isn't connected to the league, and you shouldn't bet on it.

Not affiliated with anyone

Run of Play is an independent personal project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the National Women's Soccer League, any of its clubs, ESPN, or any other organisation named on this site. Club names, colours, and crests belong to their respective owners and appear here to identify the teams being described.

Where the data comes from

Match results and club rosters come from ESPN's publicly available data. Player availability comes from the official NWSL availability report. Both are used as published; neither publisher has reviewed or approved anything presented here, and each retains all rights in its own data.

The index is original work

The underlying match and availability data belongs to its publishers, but the strength index built on top of it does not. The model, the way its inputs are weighted and combined, and the design of this site are the original work of this project and are not licensed for reuse. You're welcome to read, cite, and link to what's published here; reproducing the methodology or presenting the index as your own is a different matter — get in touch first.

Provided as-is

The strength index is one opinionated reading of public data. It may be wrong, out of date, or based on a feed that broke without anyone noticing. Nothing here is offered with any warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.

Not for betting

The win probabilities are derived from a strength gap, not from a forecasting model, and they ignore venue, rest, travel, lineups, and matchup dynamics. They are not betting advice and should not be used as any part of a wagering decision.

Personal data

This site collects nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no cookies, and no tracking. The only personal information shown is the names of professional players as published in the league's own public availability report, presented for the same purpose the league publishes them.

For how the index is actually calculated, see how it works.
